Marshal Jake Starr is NOT Sheriff Joe Arpaio

As Death in the Desert makes its way into the marketplace, there's a trickle of emails coming in asking if U.S. Marshal Jake Starr, the engagingly flawed hero in Death in the Desert, is supposed to be Sheriff Joe Arpaio. NO! NO, and NO again.

While some readers may think otherwise, the book's author states uncategorically that Jake Starr was never intended to resemble Joe Arpaio.

Our second most asked question in emails is if there will be another book...this one about Jake Starr. Again, the author says no...at least not at this time.

Western Authors at Festival

Anyone who attended the Festival of the West, held in Scottsdale, Arizona, had the opportunity to meet writers affiliated with Western Writers of America. John Manhold was among the authors present, as was Major Mitchell.

Representing himself was David F. Matuszak, author of the absolutely incredible The Cowboy's Trail Guide to Westerns. This is a MUST HAVE for true western movie aficionados!! It's an excellent resource and Matuszak is enjoyable, personable and knowledgeable.
